PLANT THE CHANGEâ„¢

We recognise the power of trees to improve the quality of our planet as well as individual well-being. They feed, shelter, and sustain us, so we must stand for them. That’s why we’ve made a bold commitment to plant 50 million trees around the world over the next 5 years. To bring this commitment to life, we’ve teamed up with seven partners from all over the globe. They’re helping us to not only plant trees, but also clean our air, strengthen our communities, and create economic opportunities. Together we will Plant the Change™.

We’d like to introduce you to the partners who are helping us create this greener world for all.

GREAT GREEN WALL

The Great Green Wall is an urgent movement to grow an 8000km line of trees across the entire width of Africa to fight climate change, drought, famine, conflict, and migration. Timberland is partnering with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and Connect4Climate - World Bank Group, on a global campaign to grow a new world wonder across the African Continent.

Our tree planting partner on the Great Green Wall, TreeAid, has planted over 16 million trees since 1987 and regenerated many more to bring hope to the people of Mali by planting trees to fight desertification and mass migration.

SMALLHOLDER FARMERS ALLIANCE

The Smallholder Farmers Alliance (SFA) works to feed and reforest a renewed Haiti using a new agroforestry model in which smallholders plant trees to earn credits that they exchange for seed, tools, training and other agricultural and community services.
We have worked with the SFA since 2010 to plant close to 7.5 million trees in Haiti and improve agriculture.
Moving forward, we will work with the SFA to use tree currency to reintroduce cotton to Haiti, resulting in a high value export crop that is directly linked to planting even more trees.

TREES FOR THE FUTURE

Founded in 1989, Trees for the Future works to improve the livelihoods of impoverished farmers by revitalizing degraded lands. To do so, they provide farmers with tree seeds, technical training, and on-site planning assistance.

  • Trees for the Future has planted over 115 million trees in dozens of countries and revitalized hundreds of thousands of acres of soil
  • We are partnering with Trees for the Future to educate and empower farmers in Kenya and Senegal to plant trees around their crops to increase their yields so they can make a better living
  • GREEN NETWORK

Since 2001, we have partnered with Japanese NGO Green Network, to plant trees in the Horqin Desert, quelling sandstorms and improving the air quality for the East Asia and Pacific region. Green Network is a grassroots environmental NGO headquartered in Yokohama, Japan. It is committed to cultivating environmental awareness and enhancing the consciousness and enthusiasm of the public to participate in the prevention and control of desertification.

  • Together, we have planted over 2.6 million trees since 2001
  • Moving forward, we will partner with Green Network to expand the reforestation initiative to combat desertification to improve the region's air quality and to revive local agriculture
  • LAS LAGUNA ECOLOGICAL PARK

We have worked with Las Lagunas Ecological Park in Santiago, Dominican Republic to grow tree seedlings to be distributed to local communities in need.

  • These trees provide shade, clean the air, and offer fresh fruit to community members.
  • We own a footwear factory in the Dominican Republic and our factory employees volunteer to work with Las Lagunas on greening projects throughout the year
  • JUSTDIGGIT

Justdiggit empowers local communities to restore degraded landscapes to cool down the planet through techniques such as Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR).

  • This technique brings back millions of trees with strong benefits to nature, wildlife, people and climate.
  • We are partnering with Justdiggit to regrow millions of trees in rural Tanzania
  • AMERICAN FORESTS

Founded in 1875 as the American Forestry Association, American Forests is the oldest national conservation organization in the U.S. Today, American Forests creates healthy and resilient forests from cities to wilderness that deliver essential benefits for climate, people, water, and wildlife.

  • American Forests has planted over 60 million trees in the last 30 years
  • We are partnering with American Forests to plant trees in six key ecosystems in the United States
  • Visit one of our stores and join us in donating to American Forests
  • TREEDOM

Treedom is an EU-based company that promotes agroforestry projects around the world. All trees are planted directly by local farmers and bring environmental, social and financial benefits to their communities.

  • Since its foundation in 2010, more than 600,000 trees have been planted in Africa, South America and Italy
  • We are partnering with Treedom to plant trees in Ghana as part of Africa's "Great Green Wall" project

To ensure you choose the correct size for your feet we recommend you follow the method described here.

To measure your size is better if you are helped by a second person.

      • Put a sheet of paper along the wall and fixed to the floor using scotch tape.
      • Then you stand over the paper, you must be straighten, wearing socks, heels and back against the wall and feet together.
      • Draw the outline of both feet and draw the straight line where the silhouette is longer. Draw another line parallel to 0.5 cm from this line (and the clearance is measured).
        • Finally, measure the distance from the wall to the second line you have drawn (both feet do not have to be the same length).
        • This will be your reference to know your shoe size.

When you find a sneaker that you like, simply select your preferred size metric (US/EU/UK) and choose your size. If you are unsure of which size is right for you, here are some helpful tips:

      • Already own a pair of kicks in the brand?
Generally sizing tends to be standard across brands, although sizes can vary slightly depending on the style, shape and material of the shoe. The size of the pair that you already own is a good guide!
      • Use the product information and reviews
Certain brands or styles can run a size larger or smaller. We’ll include this information on the product page when we have this information available, and often, fellow shoppers will leave reviews with size information that you can use.
